Trail Challenge & Obstacle Course

Enjoy a variety of trail and obstacle course challenges with us over a weekend, or just for one day. As part of the Beach Buckle Series, offered in the spring and fall, where we take our training to the beach. In partnership with Windhaven Therapeutic Riding and Equine Trail Sports, the Peninsula Saddle Club hosts two weekends a year to grow your skills.

Packaged as a tournament for advancement through skill levels, your best 4 out of 5 challenges will be used to calculate your tournament score and give recognition to Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced brackets. All levels are welcome to participate. We focus on fun, friendship, and partnership between rider and horse.

Beach Buckle Series

Part 1 – May

Fri: In Hand Challenge in the Arena
Sat: Obstacle Course Challenge in the Arena

Ribbons are given out each day to the top 6 riders in Novice, Intermediate and Advanced levels; High Point prizes are awarded to the top 6 in each group for the weekend; and Buckles will be given out to the 1st place winners in the Series. Must compete in 3 out of 4 days to be eligible for Buckles.

Why Participate?

Love of horses, being able to partner with them on a very personal level and the joy of accomplishment at the end of the day when you have worked through the problems presented together. Our event isn’t about speed, it’s more finesse, and cooperation of the team, horse/rider.

Operating with the Windhaven Therapeutic Riding commitment to healing through human-equine relationships, all are led through encouragement and recognition. The Equestrian Trail Sport organization makes it possible to do well even as a beginner and to move up to more challenging levels as you go.

Working in a safe environment like the arena or going out onto trails for more of an adventure, makes it a good fit for anyone. Beginner riders compete in the arena and walk out with the biggest smile! This event is a good one for all horse breeds and riding disciplines, Western or English.

Participants are welcome to camp with their horses at our facilities. Visit our Horse Camping page or more details, and to make reservations.

Ride for fun! Ride to learn!
